Mr Garry Clark

Men's Captain 2024/25

I first started playing golf aged 11 at Rushmere Golf Club with my uncle.  I recently retired from the hospitality trade having started my career as a Chef.  I worked in hotels, restaurants, public houses and national brewers in almost every capacity there is, from doing the washing up to becoming the Operations Director.  For the last 14 years I ran my own business which is when Hannah and I moved to Bury St Edmunds and joined the Golf Club.  I am fortunate enough to have also captained another golf club so appreciate that the idea of encouraging more members to get involved in running our club to bring new ideas and ways of working sounds easy enough, but in reality, it is a very difficult task - but one that I will try and foster during my Captain's year.

Ultimately, I want to enjoy playing golf, support the team captains to achieve as much as possible in the 2025 season - it is always great to see County silverware on display at the club!

My chosen charity is "The Golf Foundation" (285917)  The charity introduces children to the game across golf clubs, communities & schools from all walks of like.  Their Golf Sixes League initiative creates a fun introduction to competitive team golf for those starting out. Everything invested goes directly into the Golf Foundation projects and initiatives to support the future of golf.
