What is the Buddy System?
The Buddy System was introduced to help new Lady Members to settle into the club, to build their confidence and knowledge of how to play.
What does a Buddy do?
Buddies are a friendly face and point of contact for the new member. By playing with them, the Buddy can help them to:
- get a feel for our course and how to play it
- understand the basic rules and etiquette of play
- meet the requirements to obtain or activate a handicap where necessary
- introduce them to other playing partners, social events and competitions
What do we need now to ensure this process continues?
While we are lucky to have a group of friendly and experienced lady golfers who already act as Buddies, we are looking to increase the number of Buddies available.
What skills do I need to be a Buddy?
Being a Buddy requires a flexible approach as depending on their level of skill and experience, the new member may need a variable amount of input and support from their Buddy over time. A good understanding of basic rules and etiquette as well as experience of handicap scoring, different types of club competitions and their requirements would be useful.
I have been a Buddy before. Do I need to do anything?
Thank you for your continued support which is invaluable. To ensure that the information we hold is current, please let me know if you have any particular days or times when you are available to play as this may have changed since the original information was collected.
